Amy’s first month
I’ve been asked many times in the last few weeks if I’m enjoying my new job and I always answer without hesitation - “YES!!”
There’s a lot to learn (particularly as Robyn keeps changing things round just as I’ve commited a section to memory!) but I’ve been overwhelmed with how welcoming the Imaginarium’s community has been - overwhelmed, but not surprised, because its one of the things that makes this shop so special!
Amy and her most recent, and next reads!
It’s been lovely catching up with old book club friends, and making new ones (2 AND 4 legged!) and I’m looking forward to taking the lead in a couple of forth coming groups - we have an additional (4th!) SFF book club starting this month as the waiting list has grown to the extent that we can host a whole new group. And in January we have our Horror Book Club starting which I’m particularly excited about, even if it is still a couple of months away!
The only problems I’ve run into so far are nice ones to have; trying not to spend all my wages in the shop and having trouble choosing my next read as I want everything that arrives in a new delivery!
What I’ve been reading this month;
Such Sharp Teeth - Rachel Harrsion ~ a werewolf story full of feminine rage and humour with a sprinkling of romance.
Bride and Mate - Ali Hazlewood (yes, more werewolves, I’m not sorry). I HIGHLY recommend Ali to anyone in a reading slump!
What I’m reading next;
Empire of the Dawn - Jay Kristoff ~ the trilogy finally completes and I can’t wait! If you haven’t discovered this series yet, Jay is an Imaginarium favourite and this series is EPIC!
Fairydale - Veronica Lancet ~ this chunky book is a perfect brooding dark romance/mystery for dreary evenings curled up in my favourite chair!
Strange Pictures and Strange Houses by Uketsu ~ recommended to me by a customer (thanks Rebecca!) these short thrillers are SO interestingly written; giving the reader visual clues in the form of pictures and house blueprints in order for you to solve the mystery along with the characters! Uketsu himself is also a mystery - he wears a mask and no one knows who he is!
Looking forward to seeing you all in the shop and at Book Clubs soon!
