Chloe’s Recommendations

Hello everyone, my name is Chloe. I am doing my work experience at the Imaginarium. I wanted to do my work experience here as I love interacting with people who enjoy the same things as me and working with books

I thought I might share some of my favourite books with all of you as they have really pushed me to read more, without further ado, here are a five of my favourite children’s/teen books.

Wings Of Fire:

Wings Of Fire is a novel and graphic novel it is middle grade and is about a group of destined dragons. I love the diversity of the characters and all of their different personalities and roles in the book. They all have their own special role to the group that helps them all move forwards on their journeys.

Eragon:

Eragon is young adult fantasy about a farm boy who finds a polished stone which turns out to be a dragon egg containing the last dragon in their world that isn’t under the control of the mad tyrant king. I adore dragon if you couldn’t already tell from my choices and I just love the story line and the witty characters in this book.

Fireborn:

Fireborn is about a teenage girl who gave up her name to fight monsters who is taken on a unexpected turn when her friends are kidnaped so she teams up with the old stone dog guardian of the lodge she trains at. Still standing on the heavy fantasy side of things this isn’t your stereotypical children’s fantasy. Not everything goes as planed and there are twists and turns on the way, but that’s what I love about this book

13 Storey Treehouse:

This book is about two best friends who own at treehouse and keep expanding it 13 storeys at a time making funny memories on the way. To take away from the heavy fantasy I think this is a great book for young kids, its funny and really hooks you no complicated story lines to follow just two great friends having fun.

Skandar:

Skandar is a book about a 13-year-old boy who gets turned down from writing a test to see if he shall become a unicorn rider his sister was already turned down and so is he until a unexpected nock comes at the door when the clock strikes 12. Back into the fantasy this wasn’t my favourite but is defiantly up there, I really enjoyed the first book because of how he had to sneak around with his friends and how they all slowly bonded to form a tight little group.

So here is my selection of books I think would be good for age of 8+, and maybe 12+ for Eragon, they are all part of a series and are fun reads that are not too heavy.
